Steve (E.S.) Gallegos is the developer of the Personal Totem Pole Process of deep imagery. He travels worldwide teaching about the deep imagination and introducing people to their own inner animals.

Steve Gallegos was born the state of New Mexico in the southwestern United States in 1934. Of Native American, English and Irish descent, Steve was raised in the local Hispanic culture speaking both English and Spanish. A gifted craftsman he was involved in woodcarving, leatherwork, silverwork, and drawing and painting from an early age and greatly disliked the confinement and  regimentation of school even though he was a intellectually gifted student.

After military service, he completed his Ph.D. in Psychology at Florida State University. After fourteen years as chairman of the Psychology Deptartment in Macon, GA, Steve undertook a residency in psychotherapy in the State of Oregon and became a practicing psychotherapist. While in Oregon, Steve underwent a spiritual experience that changed him profoundly. This experience is described in The Personal Totem Pole Process (ISBN 9780944164099). He describes the experience as “spontaneously meeting the alivenesses that were rooted in my energy centers and that presented themselves primarily as animals, but they had to be approached through the knowing of the deep imagination. I realized that the teacher I had sought for my entire life was in fact deep within my imagination and had always been there.

Since then, introducing people to their own inner animals and the rediscovery of the wisdom of the imagination, has been his path in life. At present he is primarily engaged in offering workshops and in training others in the exploration of the deep imagination in the United States, Ireland, Germany, Austria, France, Denmark, the Czech Republic, Macedonia, Portugal, and Australia.

Frank Coughlan
November 32016

I studied social work as a young mature student aged 26. I worked for a year in residential care of 10 to 18 year old boys. Then 6 years of Child Protection Social work in Dublin before emigrating to Australia with my wife and family. Here, I spent a year as home carer for my daughter before joining Kids Help Line as a Supervisor of Telphone Counsellors (30 hours per week). At that time, I began counselling as a private practitioner (part-time) specialising in Deep Imagery, a process I had trained in in Ireland and in New Mexico, USA. I began running therapeutic groups and continue with both private counselling and groupwork to the present. Having a daughter with down syndrome and a daughter who died meant that a large part of my life energy was focused on dealing with these events. My family experience has helped to shape my practice in many ways.
From 1996 to 2011, I took on the role of caretaker at the Brisbane Quaker Meeting House and so, for many years I combined it with supervising at KHL and some private counselling.
Some time after Maeve’s death, the primary school she attended approached me to ask if I would consider a role as School Chaplain. This has been my most recent organisational role, at the same time continuing with some private work and caretaking the Quaker Meeting House.
In 2011, my family and I moved to Ballina and I have spent the year mainly on major house renovations.
I began my current position in February 2011 at Youth Connections North Coast where I work four days a wek.

Specialties: Deep Imagery as a way to positively engage unconscious processes, Group processes, Organisational change and innovation, Working with children adolescents men and women, Teamwork, Technology supporting social work, Innovative and practical ways to engage clients.

“Have you ever been so smitten by something, that suddenly it took precedence over everything else you were doing?!  That is exactly what happened when I first experienced Deep Imagery.  As a Therapist, I knew that I needed to be trained in this ground-breaking process!”

With over 25 years of experience as a licensed clinical therapist, with expertise in individual therapy and couples’ counseling, Phyllis has learned that being in “right-relationship” with ourselves and others means listening to the wisdom of our bodies and following the truth of our hearts.

Earning a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from Boston University and studying Family Therapy at Chicago and Boston Family Institute, Phyllis received certification in Hypnosis from Winchester Hospital, Winchester, MA.

Phyllis trained in Ireland with Dr. Eligio Stephen Gallegos, Ph.D., founder and pioneer of Deep Imagery.  Recognized by the International Institute for Visualization Research for her work with Deep Imagery, Phyllis is a certified Deep Imagery Workshop Leader and Deep Imagery Trainer.

Moving from her beloved home in Rockport, MA to the warm sands of Ft Myers, FL, in January 2008, Phyllis closed Envision Health and Healing in Wenham, MA and her private psychotherapy practice and has now shifted the focus of her work to teaching Deep Imagery workshops and to training other therapists, healing professionals and lay people in the process of Deep Imagery. Phyllis now travels throughout the United States providing Deep Imagery workshops and training. Her seasoned expertise, creativity and sense of humor enrich her work with both men and women.

As an artist, therapist, married for over 27 years, with two grown children, Phyllis embraces all with her warmth, compassion and openness, and passionately encourages each of us to trust in an inner knowing, as we see and give voice to the lessons in our own life stories.

Dianne is a California licensed Marriage and Family Therapist who had the good fortune to be introduced to the imaginal guides in her own “Personal Totem Pole” more than thirty years ago in a workshop given by ES Gallegos.
That workshop set her role as a therapist and her own personal growing on a new trajectory. The animal guides she met that day have comforted her tears, quieted her fears, applauded her achievements and over the decades have expanded her sense of humor and ability to live more authentically in the present moment.
Dianne has lead workshops and trainings nationally and internationally for many years.
